1. McAfee SpamKiller Configures E-mail Servers.
McAfee SpamKiller filters incoming (POP3) e-mail traffic to remove spam e-mail. When you enable SpamKiller, the software changes the POP3 mail server address in Outlook Express to a loopback IP address, 127.0.0.1.
The 127.0.0.1 IP address can also appear as a local host. This setting points Outlook Express to Spamkiller as your e-mail server instead of the server you normally use. Spamkiller then retrieves the e-mail as it comes in from the mail server and filters the mail. Then, Outlook Express downloads the filtered mail from Spamkiller.
